Songkran Uptown – Thai New Year Block Party

Amazing Thailand is partnering with the Thai Culture Council to hold the Third Annual Songkran Uptown! This celebration is to honor the Thai New Year on Saturday April 27, 2019. Located on Lake Street and Hennepin, the block is transformed with traditional Thai decorations, vibrant clothing, and lively music.
Food and drink are plentiful and delicious from Amazing Thailand, who will be serving classic favorites including Panang curry, egg rolls, mango sticky rice, and more. There will also be vendors selling decor, clothing, and art, while performances will be taking place all day highlighting Thai culture, including music, dancing, and exciting contests. This free event is fun for the whole family and highlights the diversity and culture of Uptown!
Uptown Food Truck Festival

Head to Lake & Hennepin where over 65 food trucks will be invading the area for the Annual Uptown Food Truck Festival on June 23, 2019. In addition to food trucks where you’ll find gourmet doughnuts, burgers, ethnic street fare, and wood-fired pizzas, there will also be a space for a dozen local craft brewers.
Of course, the food is the star of the show, but visitors will also enjoy live music taking place on two stages, while families can enjoy giant Jenga, hammerschlagen, and other activities. There is no admission to get in, but in order to enjoy the craft beers, you will need to bring your ID.
56th Annual Uptown Art Fair

The Uptown Art Fair is a nationally recognized event that draws a crowd of almost 400,000 people, making it the second largest event in Minnesota! This three-day celebration of art and culture in Uptown originally launched in 1964 with the goal of raising money for the community. While the fair has grown, the goal hasn’t changed, and much of the proceeds go back into funding community projects and activities.
Featuring over 350 local and nationally-known artists and artisans, visitors can take in thousands of works done in all types of mediums including painting, mixed media, sculpture, wood carving, jewelry making, and glass work. While the art is the star of the show, there’s so much happening here to enjoy, including a youth art fair for junior artists, 25 food and beverage vendors, beer gardens, and family activities.
An exciting new addition to the Uptown Art Fair is the pARTy Plaza where dance and musical performances will be held, attendees can take part in the community mural, and there will also be games for kids and adults!
Music in the Park – Lake Harriet Bandshell Park
Throughout Summer 2019
Uptown is known for its live music scene with countless bars and clubs featuring live acts. If you want to enjoy gorgeous Minneapolis evenings while listening to live local music, visit Lake Harriet Bandshell Park. Performances are held almost nightly and there is something for everyone, from rock, R&B, and folk to community bands. The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis also hold concerts here multiple times each summer.
