Standish is one of eight neighborhoods in the Powderhorn community here in Minneapolis and was named after Plymouth Colony founder, Captain Myles Standish. Like much of the area, Standish grew rapidly in the 1920s and many of the homes in the area reflect the architecture popular at the time. Along the tree-lined streets are bungalows, craftsmans, and scaled-down Tudor-style homes, many of which contain fireplaces, hardwood floors, and original woodwork.

• Sibley Park with a playground, sports areas, and walking paths;
• Lake Nokomis, a larger lake that’s just south of Hiawatha. Visitors can enjoy walking paths, a park, and beach area, plus an outdoor restaurant.
• Sibley Community Center offers ice skating and community events like movies in the park and cookouts.
