A Little Background on This Minneapolis Neighborhood
ECCO was first established in the early 1900s. In 1911 Lake Calhoun was connected to Lake Isles by a canal and that was the year the first boathouse was built on the lake shore. This small community was established as a suburb of Minneapolis with its residential development following the streetcar.
A majority of the houses, duplexes, and single family homes were built around the turn of the 20th century. It has always been the center of environmental activities and is renowned for its environmental fortitude.
Present Day ECCO
The community currently shares boundaries with CARAG and East Isles. With Lake Calhoun as its western border, Hennepin Ave as its eastern border, W. Lake St. and W. 36th St. serve as its northern and southern borders.
It is considered to be an upscale community providing both an escape from the bustle of Minneapolis, as well as, scenic views not far from the city skyline.
The area is considered to be a city hot spot including trendy bars, movie theaters, stylish boutiques, fine dining and much more.
