Nestled on the northern shores of Lake Minnetonka, Orono is a Hennepin County community where more than 7,000 residents call home.
Named after the Maine town of the same name, this 25.15-square-mile community was first created in 1889 and incorporated in 1955.
Located just 15 miles west of downtown Minneapolis, this community boasts a high quality of life for the residents who live there.
Orono’s Public Golf Course and Other Amenities

For instance, the town operates The Orono Public Golf Course, which is located near the north shore of Lake Minnetonka.
Found in 1924, this course has the distinction of being the first public golf course in the state with grass greens.
